Chapter 9: the worlds of islam

  • Muhammad's claim to be a messenger of Allah transformed Arabia in a way on how people practice religion today. Muhammad intended to change laws, taxation, and have a "mandatory payment to the poor."
    • Talking about Muhammad, he was an inspiration to people not just in his country, Islam, but also people around the world. He established new and improved reforms for society for equality and serenity. Although he wanted to connect with the Jews and Christians, there were upsets about this. Enemies would team up amongst each other and Muhammad clearly didn't accept it. He enslaved people, killed other, and put people to exile.
    • The fact that these different forms of religions had alliances, Muhammad was determined to continue to connect them. He engaged with them by telling people that their Gods were prospering and will continue to prosper by becoming alliances with a much stronger power.
    • As one would predict, a new religion was formed and this caused an uproar upon many regions.
      • This definitely relates to society today because there are always conflicts on who's right or wrong. Some religions do stay in their own space and practice as they would on the regular, while other don't practice at all and still discriminate. This happens a lot with religion due to race and culture.
